Saurimo — The governor of the eastern Lunda Sul province, Cândida Narciso, said on Tuesday in Saurimo city that the Olympic swimming-pool, whose works are already in the final stage, will empower the sporting talent not only in the disciplines of pure swimming, but also in other water activities within the region.

The official said so to ANGOP when speaking about the swimming and rescue course that the local government is promoting since Monday.

She stated that the Olympic swimming-pool will also allow the recreation and leisure of all the inhabitants of the region, as well as contribute to the children's motor development.

According to her, the Olympic swimming-pool will definitely have a strong positive impact on the well-being and quality of life of the people, adding that swimming as motor activity promotes discipline and endurance, allowing sensations and significant bio-psychosocial changes.

Candida Narciso informed that the water environment is actually facilitator for learning the different capabilities of physical exercise, such as strength, endurance, improving various respiratory, circulatory systems and especially social skills such as autonomy and tenacity.

To Candida Narciso, each value spent in sport is reflected on a significant reduction in expenditure on cardiovascular disease, encouraging local youths to focus increasingly on sport.

The swimming and rescue course results in the wake of an existing protocol between the swimming federations of Angola and Portugal.
